Eroticism and Sexual Fantasy

Online workshop live from the UK via zoom
Presenter: Niki D

This workshop, delivered via zoom over 2 half-days, is aimed at therapists who are committed to working with clients’ sexuality. It will address eroticism and sexual fantasy, exploring how we can approach this aspect of clients’ lives in a way that is sensitive, relevant and helpful.

Fantasy in the therapy room

We hope to create the kind of a therapeutic relationship with our clients in which they feel sufficiently comfortable to freely share their concerns, dilemmas, hopes, fears, hurts and joys. We may pride ourselves on how open and non-judgemental we are, how willing we are to explore anything that our clients want to bring.

Yet how many of us know what our client’s sexual fantasies are – what turns them on, what brings about an erotic charge with their lover, a stranger or with themselves? Do we know how they use their imagination for sexual pleasure? Do we know what limits them to giving or receiving erotic bliss? Do they have a sexual fantasy from childhood that they hold shame about but cannot orgasm without? Are they sexually bored, sexually inhibited or is this an aspect of embodiment and connection when they truly come alive?
