PACFA Webinar Recordings

PACFA Research Forum Webinar

What counts as legitimate knowledge in psychotherapy and counselling: Considering evidence-informed practice.

PACFA has recently released an updated statement on the use of evidence to inform practice in psychotherapy and counselling. This new statement emphasises ‘evidence-informed’ rather than ‘evidence-based’ practice, to acknowledge wider debates and developments in research epistemology and ontology.

The statement includes consideration of a range of sources of evidence that PACFA members might use in their practice.

This webinar introduces the statement and the issues it raises for our profession in what counts as legitimate knowledge to underpin effective practice.

Presenters, all members of PACFA’s Research Committee, bring diversity of professional training and experience to this topic.

The Panel includes:
Dr Elizabeth Day, Chair

Dr Alexandra Bloch-Atefi, PACFA Research Committee Co-Chair

Dr. Rhys Price Robertson, PACFA editor
