Despite its long history, Somatic Psychotherapy defies definition. This presentation aims to clarify the field’s philosophical roots, historical events, main commonalities and differences, strengths and weaknesses, the current state of Somatic Psychotherapy in Australia, and address a possible future. It is hoped that the presentation will provide a useful overview of Somatic Psychotherapy, encourage practitioners to reflect on body-mind and embodiment inclusion into their clinical work, and show avenues to do so. |
