University of Canberra Student Placements Required

University of Canberra PG Discipline of Counselling Course Offer of Placement Students in 2022

Would you like the following opportunities?
Access to enthusiastic and motivated students
Access to fresh and creative minds, to promote new ideas and encourage innovation
Assistance in achieving your business outcomes
Access to a talent pool of students for your future workforce
Promotion of your organisation to the student body and wider University audience

If so, then providing a placement to a University of Canberra counselling student in 2022 would be just the thing for you!

Students require 260 hours of placement opportunity starting no later than early February. Within these 260 hours, 60 hours will need to be direct client contact to practice their counselling skills.

What this means for you:
You as Agency Supervisor will be both a resource and a consultant to the student, however the primary responsibility for learning is with the student and the process is collaborative.

What this means for the students:
Being available on site 2 - 3 days a week within the course of the semester. Students can start the induction process earlier but only when they have enrolled into the unit at the end of November 2021 and have their placement approved by UC’s placement office.

What the university provides:
Fortnightly supervision sessions to the students over the course of the semester. This is part of broader on-going support offered to the students throughout the placement.

Placements lay the foundation of a strong professional network within the ACT community and students are keen to get the ball rolling, so we would welcome hearing from you.
