New partnership with Mental Health Professionals' Network

The role of counsellors and psychotherapists within the mental health workforce has gained further recognition with a new partnership between PACFA and the Mental Health Professionals' Network (MHPN).

PACFA and the MHPN have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together in achieving positive mental health outcomes for Australians, through collaboration, education and promotion.

Under the agreement, PACFA and the MHPN will encourage greater utilisation of counsellors and psychotherapists in the mental health workforce, where appropriate.

MHPN works with practitioners to establish and support interdisciplinary mental health networks across metropolitan, regional, rural and remote Australia. MHPN produces interactive webinars featuring case-based panel discussions and Q&A sessions by leading experts. The network also produces podcasts, including a series on ‘Trauma and resilience’, life transitions and eating disorders.

PACFA registrants are encouraged to utilise the network’s webinars, podcasts and recordings, and participate in peer networks organised by MHPN, as appropriate.

MHPN’s next webinar is on Thursday 7 April at 7.15pm-8.30pm (AEST), on ‘Assessment and engagement with infants and children’.
