The Australian College of Counselling and Psychotherapy Educators (ACCAPE) is a national College dedicated to supporting counselling and psychotherapy educators and advancing counselling and psychotherapy education in Australia.
ACCAPE Terms of Reference
A Leadership Group has been established to lead the College and to plan activities for College members.
Activities include:
- Building a vibrant community of educators within the counselling and psychotherapy education field
- Sponsoring and fostering research
- Providing continuing professional development
- Providing opportunities for networking and peer support

College Membership
Individual PACFA members receive membership of one PACFA College included with their membership. If you wish to belong to more than one College there is a fee payable as detailed in the Schedule of Fees.
To join the the Australian College of Counselling and Psychotherapy Educators, Applicants must meet the ACCAPE Membership Requirements.

- Academic Member
- Associate Academic Member
- Affiliate Member
Educators will be allocated to the level of membership of the College based on their qualifications and experience. Members may also progress to higher levels of College Membership when they meet the requirements.
Renewal Requirements
Academic and Associate Academic Members of the College are require to undertake 10 hours of CPD relating to the education practice in addition to the 20 hours of CPD required in relation to counselling and psychotherapy.
Acceptable activities include:
- Performance review process with line manager
- Relevant workshop participation
- Facilitation of teaching and learning programs for teaching staff
- Peer review/reflective process
Educators that do not see clients are not required to undertake clinical supervision. Educators with a very part-time clinical practice are required to undertake at least 4 hours of clinical supervision per year.

Ethical Standards for Educators
Members of the Australian College of Counselling and Psychotherapy Educators are required to follow the PACFA Code of Ethics which includes ethical standards relating to education practice which were developed in consultation with by the College.
