About me

My practice
Hey there! My name is Nicola (she/her), and I am excited that you are currently perusing my bio to see whether we might be a good fit.

I am a registered counsellor with more than 15 years of experience working with young people and adults within community mental health and education settings.

I take a trauma-informed, person-centered approach to therapy, and my preferred modalities are EMDR, DBT and attachment-based.

I have a special interest in working with complex trauma, youth mental health, personality disorders, mood disorders, voice hearing, neurodivergence and the queer community.

I describe myself as eclectic and integrative, which is a fancy way of saying that I use different therapeutic modalities for different presentations, depending on what fits the client's needs best.

No matter the modality, my priority is creating a strong therapeutic relationship with warmth and authenticity, and a space that clients can feel safe, heard and understood.

Outside of work, I am usually reading questionable books about fairies, painting murals on the walls of my house, bushwalking up in the High Country with my little family, or tending to my plant babies. I am a pretty stereotypical Millennial.
