About me

My practice
Hello. My name is Eri and I'm a Dance Movement Psychotherapist.
I currently work and move with diverse communities in lutruwita (Tasmania).
My love of dance and belief in the power of dance led me to move to London in 2010 to study Dance Movement Psychotherapy. As a Dance Movement Psychotherapist I have so far worked with adults with dementia and in mental health settings, children and adults with learning difficulties, and various communities in Japan and Australia. Drawing the individual’s attention to Body-mind connection, I work psychodynamically, relating to people where they are, bringing authenticity and joy into the moment. My ethics and approach are rooted in Dance Movement Psychotherapy, both in working as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist and a Movement artist. Since settling back in lutruwita in late 2019, I have worked for a special needs organisation and am working for a local inclusive performance company, as well as offering individual DMP and group sessions.
In 2021 I trained as a facilitator in The BodyMind Approach® for people with Medically Unexplained Symptoms.
I am originally from Japan. Since a child, I have always been curious about cultural differences, which later encouraged me to travel extensively. I lived in Germany, UK, and Australia, and stayed long-term in India. In my work I welcome diversity and the richness it can bring to our life.
*For NDIS participants, I can offer sessions if your plan is Self-managed or Plan-managed.
