About me

My practice
Justin is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and PACFA accredited Supervisor with more than 12 years of clinical experience. He has worked extensively with people with disabilities and mental health issues, families and young people (children above 12 and adolescents) with varying issues in the local community and EAP programs. Throughout this time, he has gained a strong understanding of the barriers that confront people from disadvantaged backgrounds and varying circumstances trying to make positive and meaningful changes in their lives

Justin is passionate about journeying with people as they experience the difficulties of life which can sometimes seem very overwhelming. He believes that by providing a safe and contained environment for people to let everything out while feeling heard and validated, and joining with them to work towards their desired outcomes provides them with a different experience that gives them the opportunity to become empowered to make long-lasting positive and meaningful change.

Justin believes that building up a strong working relationship with his clients is the most important factor to being able to assist clients overcome their barriers and move towards their desired outcomes. He understands that counselling is a very personal experience and feeling safe and connected are two important components in effective counselling.

Justin takes a client-centred approach to his counselling. He understands that what is effective for one client may not be effective for another client. He focuses on delivering individualised care and focuses on working with his clients towards their desired outcomes in a way that will work for them. To honour his client’s diversity and preferences, he incorporates a broad range of theories in his counselling including but not limited to – Narrative Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-centred Therapy and Strengths-based Therapy.

Justin enjoys connecting with clients in a meaningful way and has found journeying with them to be a rewarding process over his years of practice.

Justin has rooms in Moorooka in Brisbane and is also available for Video consultations with clients (Microsoft Teams and Cliniko).
