Alee has extensive experience working with people who have experienced trauma,loss and isolation. Alee is currently a consultant and trainer with Gestalt Therapy Brisbane, WorkUp and the Healing Foundation and has been instrumental in developing and delivering foundational training to undergraduate counsellors, and supervising frontline practitioners working with sexual and domestic violence.
HeartWork is a unique approach to therapy, created by Alee, that is informed by a variety of spiritual and philosophical influences including Engaged Buddhism, Yoga Psychology, EcoFeminism, and Indigenous Ways of Knowing. Heartwork values your unique experience and our interconnectedness to the whole.
HeartWork is grounded in Relational, Gestalt, Somatic and Trauma Informed Psychotherapeutic approaches and integrates a range of Expressive Therapies including Sandplay and symbol work. Alee began her study in the Process Oriented Psychology community in the 90s and has trained in many other therapeutic approaches including Narrative and Internal Family Systems Therapy.
More recently Alee has been exploring the work of Betty Martin and the Wheel of Consent. The wheel offers an empowering set of practices that invite greater authenticity and enable individuals to connect with their body's sensations, improving their ability to know what they want and feel.
