About me

My practice
Cherie is a counsellor registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia. Cherie has experience working with both neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals presenting with a range of conditions, including anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, substance use, bipolar disorder, body dysphoria/dysmorphia and panic attacks. They have supported LGBTQIA+ community and victim-survivors of family violence and sexual abuse. Cherie employs a trauma-informed approach, integrating techniques from various therapeutic modalities, such as mindfulness, psychoeducation, Internal Family Systems, attachment theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Cherie believes that unprocessed trauma is stored and manifested within the body, and that an individual's lived experiences can either support or hinder recovery. Furthermore, they maintain that it is not necessary to re-live traumatic events in order to heal, as the impact of trauma often manifests in present-day experiences, which can be addressed and transformed in the here and now.
