About me

My practice
Merel Purmer is a PACFA Clinical Member and ACA Registered Supervisor, with over 11 years of experience providing professional counselling and art therapy services to clients across Australia.

Merel holds a Bachelor of Art Therapy and Diploma of Counselling and works with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a range of emotional and mental health concerns. Her areas of practice include anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, relationship issues, stress, and life transitions.

She offers a client-centred, trauma-informed approach, creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where clients feel heard and understood.
Merel draws on evidence-based therapeutic approaches including art therapy, person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused counselling and narrative therapy, tailoring each session to the unique needs, goals, and strengths of the individual.

In addition to individual counselling, Merel facilitates group therapy and provides professional supervision to counsellors, both individually and in group settings. As an ACA Registered Supervisor, she is committed to ethical practice, reflective learning, and supporting the professional growth of fellow practitioners.

Merel offers online counselling, art therapy and professional supervision services, making professional support accessible and flexible for clients throughout Australia.
