About me

My practice
Having grown up in Germany I migrated to Australia in 2001 and have since lived in the Northern Rivers area. My therapeutic background spans many years of assisting in group therapy work within residential retreat settings. This includes approaches such as primal therapy/ childhood deconditioning, breathwork like Rebirthing and Pulsation, Tantra, women’s liberation work, and the Path of Love. My work as a bodyworker and physical therapist over decades provided me with rich human encounters across all walks of life, increasing my curiosity and passion for the interconnection between physiology and life experiences, and their impact on body and mind. I found that in our society there is a rejection of the natural ups and downs that accompany one's life and there is a premise, biased towards improvement, always getting better, rising above suffering. Even in the face of decay and death, in times of loss, grief, and regression. While wanting to get better is understandable human thriving, I observed in clients and in myself that during these phases of stopping and being still much internal deepening and maturing can happen when we allow it. The imagery of improvement shown to us by societal values makes us interpret times of declining as somehow pathological. Yet I see them as opportunities to develop compassion, a teaching at the heart of all spiritual traditions. Specifically self-compassion is an element of maturation, allowing us to welcome what is and whatever may come, with aliveness. My main therapeutic aim therefore is to support clients in befriending their life’s challenges and offer a space to breath and listen to what is asking them to pay attention to at this time.
