About me

My practice
I have a variety of lived experiences alongside my professional qualifications in counselling and in trauma recovery (I am an accredited The Richards Trauma Process practitioner - TRTP). I have raised 5 children and been a military wife for 30 years. I have lived in numerous locations in Australia as well as overseas and supported my husband through six deployments. I understand the stressors of raising children both on my own and with a partner and I have lived experience of grief and loss and of adjusting to new cultures and environments. I understand what it is like to live with stress and the debilitating effects of burnout. I understand what it is like to "lose yourself" while trying to please everyone around you. I have led women's support groups for decades and instigated a nationwide support charity for military wives in 2007 that I led for 7 years. My passion is to assist people to see who they really are and to encourage them to live fulfilled lives. I see people in my counselling room in Redcliffe on the Redcliffe Peninsula just north of Brisbane and also offer appointments via zoom for those who can't travel to me.
