Dr Leon W. Cowen is arguably Australia’s most experienced clinical hypnotherapist and clinical hypnotherapy educator. With over 40 years as a therapist, 30 as an educator and a PhD in clinical hypnotherapy education (School of Medicine – University of Western Sydney), he is acknowledged as a leader in the profession.

Within his practice, Dr Cowen accepts referrals from Medical Practitioners, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Acupuncturists, Nurses, Naturopaths, Chiropractors, Massage Therapists and other health professionals.

A well as maintaining his busy clinic and increasingly popular online practice, writing articles for professional journals and public media, he lectures at various universities, hospitals and conferences, training Medical Practitioners, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Nurses, Naturopaths and other health professionals in basic hypnosis then specialist and advanced clinical hypnotherapy techniques and applications.

After achieving the first Government Accredited Training for Clinical Hypnotherapy he served as the Chair of the Hypnotherapy Council of Australia Educational Advisory Board and helped develop initial standards for the profession. Dr Cowen consults with professional hypnotherapy associations, health professional associations, government, non-government organisations, health funds, public institutions and media on clinical and educational matters.
