About me

My practice
Ruth is a PACFA Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a Master of Psychotherapy and Counselling, a Post-Graduate Diploma of Counselling, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Science. Provide first aid & CPR-HLTAID003 Course-completed March 2020.
After nursing for a number of years, Ruth recognised she wanted to formalise her counselling skills as she recognised that counselling and psychotherapy were the areas of nursing practise that she loved.
When she’s at home, Ruth loves watching black and white films and spending time with her two children, her two dogs, two rescue cats, and two goldfish.
Insight Out Counselling is a practice located in Berwick managed by Ruth Neilson. Ruth is a registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist who offers specialist individual counselling and couple/relationship counselling over a wide range of areas which include but are not limited to: depression and /or anxiety, grief, loss and bereavement and trauma counselling. Ruth’s overarching focus is holding a client’s hope until they feel mentally strong enough to carry the hope within themselves.
In her practice, Ruth endeavours to foster an empathetic, safe therapeutic relationship and provides her clients an opportunity to explore aspects of their life in a supportive and non-judgemental environment. Ruth believes that by establishing mutual respect and trust between herself and her clients, issues that previously have seemed hopeless can be challenged and managed, resulting in a clearer path to happiness and wellbeing.
