About me

My practice
I am a highly experienced and qualified psychotherapist, mental health practitioner, and family therapist with extensive clinical experience over 17 years, and in private practice for over 12 years. In addition to the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia, I hold clinical memberships with the Australian Association of Family therapists (AAFT) and the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). I am a Medicare Provider.
My experience expands across the 3 sectors (private, government and non-government). I have worked in the areas of justice system, mental health, migration, cultural issues, refugees, torture & trauma, drug and alcohol, grief & bereavement, sexual and reproductive health, and women’s issues. I have held senior clinical roles including as Coordinator for the Drug and Alcohol Office, Manager of clinical services with the Perth Women’s Centre-WHFS, and Manager of counselling services with Family Planning.
I have held positions as clinical supervisor of teams and as seasonal academic in 4 universities in Perth including in the Masters of Counselling @ Murdoch University, currently including Edith Cowan University in the school of Social Work & Social Sciences. I have presented at state, National & International conferences and I am a published author and researcher. I am an invited guest Editor with the Australian & New Zealand Journal of Family Therapy for a special COVID-19 edition having invited international researchers, practitioners and educators. Over the past couple of years, I have been studying towards my PhD exploring the ‘lived experience’ of therapists and clients in working systemically with culture, a collaborative Australian-Italian study.
Over more than 12 years, I have worked in private practice providing therapeutic services to families, couples and individuals presenting with relationships issues and with diagnosed psychiatric disorders. I work with people and their ecological system with special interest in areas including family and systemic issues, cultural diversity, complex trauma, self-identity, chronic conditions (including those related to mesh implants and auto-immune conditions). As a systemic therapist I am guided by a number of key theoretical perspectives and practice models. I consider the interplay between early childhood & adult attachments and the impact on how we view self and how we relate to others, particularly in the presence of trauma & complex trauma. I explore & identify people’s strengths and attempts in encouraging and maintaining positive change. My approach is designed to assist people to develop awareness and gain insight into issues, imparting them with new skills & strategies, in order to empower them to gain self-confidence and develop decision making while finding alternative ways to find meaningfulness and life purpose.
