About me

My practice
Kieran Vaughan has a Master of Counselling, a Grad Dip in Counselling, and has a Cert in Initiatic Art Therapy. In private practice in Canberra's inner north, Kieran helps individuals and groups address the issues which prevent them from living and working to their full potential. Kieran has a strong interest in trauma, and the modalities which help to release trauma from the body, especially those which encourage the mind-body connection, such as art therapy and somatic therapies.
Kieran focusses on warmth and empathy to provide a safe space for the client to explore their situation, clarify the dynamics and gain insights to work toward coping, confidence and flourishing. She works with clients of various ages and backgrounds but particularly adolescents and women.
She has over 30 years' experience in the community sector, in counselling, community work, youthwork, cancer support, crisis support and suicide prevention. Her roles have included groupwork, training, supervision and management and included ensuring quality and consistency of crisis support and supervision across the national Lifeline centres and Ozhelp. Kieran teaches counselling to post graduates at the University of Canberra, and has previously taught community sector workers at the Canberra Institute of TAFE for several years.
