My practice
Vanessa Allen is the founder and Director of Evolving Minds Counselling, a welcoming space she created to offer compassionate and tailored support for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

Vanessa is a Mental Health Social Worker, Counsellor and Psychotherapist as well as a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician with ANZAED and a Certified RO DBT Practitioner. She is also trained in Internal Family Systems Therapy and has completed specialised child protection training, family and couple therapy. ​

Vanessa is known for her empathetic approach and desire to empower clients to make positive changes in line with their values. She has worked with people from diverse backgrounds and of all ages, finding joy in witnessing their growth. Her calm and caring nature allows her to build trust even with the most resistant clients. At Evolving Minds, Vanessa has created a nurturing environment where clients can safely explore their inner selves, build resilience, and work towards achieving their personal goals.

Vanessa is a dedicated lifelong learner who stays up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices to provide the best possible care. Her passion for teaching and presenting shines through, making her a skilled and engaging educator. At Evolving Minds, Vanessa focuses on empowering her clients, equipping them with the tools and support they need to grow, overcome challenges, and thrive.

Vanessa's experience extends beyond private practice. She has worked in government and non-profit sectors, specifically in child protection and out of home care. This experience has equipped her to handle complex behaviours and presentations, including oppositional defiant disorder, ADHD, ADD, sensory processing disorders, suicide prevention, self-harm and eating disorders. At Evolving Minds, Vanessa brings her expertise to provide care tailored to each individual.
