About me

My practice
I am a qualified and experienced Counsellor specialising in crisis and trauma, addictions and mental health. I am accustomed to working in high risk crisis environments supporting clients with complex needs, histories of trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, mental health concerns, alcohol and drug addiction, homelessness and extremely challenging behaviours. My experience has taught me that everybody has a story and with a strong rapport and development of trust these stories can be shared in a safe and non judgemental space as the first step towards change. My objective as a counsellor is to connect, listen to that person’s story, and identify their key strengths, immediate needs and resources available to meet those needs. Depending on each individual I then work with that person to build a toolbox of support skills to help with anxiety, depression, distress tolerance, identifying healthy relationships, assertive communication, conflict management, relapse prevention or harm minimisation so they can work towards achieve meaningful change and self-agency
