At Arukah, my emphasis is on the relationship between counsellor and client. Taking a gentle holistic approach, my aim is to guide you on a journey that cares for your spirit, soul, and body. In my counselling practice, I uphold the belief that every individual is valuable and deserving of support. My approach encompasses various techniques, including integrating biblical principles when appropriate, to address all aspects of well-being emotional, mental, relational, and spiritual.
Initially trained as an Accountant and completing my Master's in Accounting my journey changed when I prioritized raising our children. Amidst the joys of motherhood, I discovered my true calling to counselling and thus my journey began. Initially in Chaplaincy and then into being a College Counsellor alongside my private counselling business. I have had the privilege of working a decade in the Education sector and continuing with my private counselling business.
I have enjoyed working with teens, children and offering parent support. Issues relating to anxiety, depression, self-harm, school refusals, conflict resolution, mediations, friendships issues, anger management, group work, separation anxiety, suicide ideations, subject selections, self-esteem, psychoeducation, liaising with external agencies and hospitals and risk management plans was part of the work and experience gained. Hence besides working with children and teens, liaising with schools to help support the student and the parent is offered. Working with teachers closely to help support the child was a part of the role.
I also work with Individuals needing counselling, young adults experiencing life transitions and the migrant community experiencing any trauma/grief/adjustment issues.
Caring for my mum, who got diagnosed with Dementia has further shaped my understanding of the role of a caregiver.
It's my privilege and honor to accompany you towards healing and the restoration of wholeness, for both you and your family.
