About me

My practice
Mina Amiri is a psychotherapist who trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy and works with adults. While she draws on a variety of therapeutic modalities, she tailors her approach to suit the client’s unique personality and needs. No matter what clients bring she will offer a warm, attentive and sensitive environment for clients to talk with her in.

Mina believes that psychotherapy provides a space to gain fresh insight by understanding ourselves more fully and developing greater compassion for who we are. Through bringing awareness to what is and exploring new ways of responding to life we can become free from unhelpful patterns and find happier, easier ways of being and relating. Mina works collaboratively with her clients to build a trusting relationship where they are able to explore, develop deeper self-awareness and work through issues that are causing distress.

Mina offers short or long term therapy and works with a wide range of mental and emotional pain including relationship difficulties, early childhood trauma and abuse, depression, anxiety, migration/ acculturation, general personal growth, with particular experience and interest in the areas of sexual orientation, gender identity, and sexual desire.

Mina has previously lived in New Zealand and Iran. As an immigrant, Mina brings her life experiences into her counselling and psychotherapy in working with her clients. She is fluent in Farsi/Persian and English and works with clients from a range of cultural backgrounds and gender identities.
