About me

My practice
Currently Accepting New Referrals

“Holding the Space” refers to being fully present in the here and now. It is a collaborative and respectful therapeutic environment co-created by counsellor and client, grounded in safety, trust, and non-judgement.

I work with individuals, couples, and families, offering a holistic approach that recognises the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, as well as the impact of life circumstances on wellbeing. Guided by genuine curiosity and unconditional positive regard, I believe people have an inherent capacity to resolve their own challenges, and my role is to provide support and guidance in that process.

My practice draws on a broad range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Family Systems Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I work from a trauma-informed and systemic framework and bring highly developed counselling skills to my practice.

I support families experiencing a wide range of concerns, including trauma, grief and loss, often arising from separation, divorce, and blended family dynamics. With over thirteen years’ experience counselling adolescents, I am skilled in engaging young people and supporting them to navigate relational challenges, school refusal, and mental health concerns. I have a particular interest in working with families—parents, young adults, adolescents, and children—who are experiencing relational difficulties and transitions across the lifespan.

Karen is a registered member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA No. 28474 – Clinical) and the Christian Counsellors Association of Australia (CCAA No. 300502 – Clinical / Supervisor).
