About me

My practice
It can often take courage to engage in our distress! Offering you the confidential space to talk about what may be bothering you at this time, I will listen and allow you the time to reflect on your thoughts and feelings. The world can be difficult and sometimes it is hard to manage tricky times in our lives. Speaking with someone outside of your usual circle can often be liberating and beneficial especially when you build towards making the changes in your life which might be helpful to you.
Fully trained in the Person-Centred approach and Compassion Focussed Therapy, I am very experienced in building trust within our therapeutic relationship and whilst wishing to be constructive and helpful, also allowing you to go at your own pace. If you wish, I am also qualified to guide you in developing your own compassionate mind whilst also working through the difficult things that may be occurring in your life.
I work online and face-to-face from home. and have found that during these times, this has offered more flexibility to people who would like to make an appointment but struggle to fit it in with their other commitments. I am very experienced in both types of therapy and find that I can still remain committed to developing an empathic therapeutic relationship. Working online has also enabled me to work creatively which I have really enjoyed.
During the first session with you, I will ask you a number of questions about your what has brought you to therapy and some background details. All of these questions are voluntary and can sometimes open up difficult thoughts and feelings. I have found that asking a person if it is ok to continue can be really helpful at these times, allowing you more control and autonomy within the session. Gaining an understanding of what might be tricky or painful, we can then reach an agreement of how we explore these aspects within the therapy and consider ways in which we might manage the difficult feelings that may occur.
