What’s important to know about working with DV/FV in the LGBTIQA community

In this interactive presentation, Anthony Lekkas, who is a social worker, counsellor and LGBTI family violence specialist,  will look at how society shapes the way love and intimacy can happen for LGBTI people in intimate relationships, as well as how abuse occurs and its impact for LGBTI people. Anthony will look closely at individual client abuse experiences as well as examine how heterosexism and homophobia impact on issues of safety and risk for LGBTI people who may want to access support from a therapist. This presentation will emphasise that providing an LGBTI inclusive service is critical to understanding the diversity that exists in the lives of LGBTI people who access mainstream therapeutic services.

This webinar is for all counsellors who wish to broaden their LGBTI lens and understand the nuances, specific needs, do’s and don’ts, and challenge myths around Domestic and Family violence.
