PACFA warmly invites all members to join us at the upcoming 2022 Conference: Safety Through Diversity: emerging challenges and opportunities in the provision of mental health care to explore the challenges and opportunities presented by Australia's post-COVID mental health landscape.
PACFA’s biennial member conference, originally scheduled to take place this year, is now being held from the 29th April – 1st May 2022 at the Pullman Adelaide. PACFA values diversity and its contribution to safer healthier individuals and communities. Our members are a broad collaboration of counsellors, psychotherapists and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Healing Practitioners that support mental health and wellbeing in a wide variety of settings. This rich diversity challenges the norms of contemporary mental healthcare and demands to have a voice.
This will be the first time we have hosted a PACFA Conference in Adelaide. Traditionally, conferences have taken place in Melbourne and Sydney but as national organisation, it is important that we start reaching out to members all over Australia, and making high quality professional development opportunities available in more locations.
The new conference date, which was announced late last year as part of PACFA’s ongoing response to COVID-19, will ensure that our members can safely attend the premier event in our professional development calendar. The new scheduling also provided PACFA’s Conference Committee with opportunity to revamp the conference with exciting new themes and streams and a brand-new logo design. The four conference streams are:
Stream 1: Diversity in Gender, Body, Kinship, & Sexuality
Stream 2: Indigenous Healing Practices
Stream 3: Psychotherapy, Counselling and the Politics of Mental Health
Stream 4: The place of research in the future of the profession
The Conference Committee will be calling for abstracts soon on the above topics so please stay tuned for upcoming announcements.
