Suicide Prevention Australia welcomes PACFA as a member

16 April 2024

PACFA is pleased to announce its membership of Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA). The membership signifies a shared commitment to strengthening mental health support systems in Australia and reducing the tragic impact of suicide.

While PACFA brings a wealth of expertise and a dedicated network of highly skilled and experienced tertiary-qualified counsellors and psychotherapists to the table, SPA, the national peak body for suicide prevention, advocates tirelessly for suicide prevention initiatives and provides vital resources across the country.

"We are thrilled to join forces with Suicide Prevention Australia," says Johanna de Wever, PACFA CEO. "This membership of SPA allows us to significantly amplify our collective impact on mental health and suicide prevention efforts in Australia.

"PACFA's extensive network of counsellors and psychotherapists play a crucial role in supporting Australians facing mental health challenges. PACFA’s involvement strengthens the capacity to advocate for effective suicide prevention strategies and ensure timely access to mental health care.

PACFA's membership of Suicide Prevention Australia opens doors for collaboration in several critical areas, including raising public awareness of mental health issues and readily available suicide prevention resources, and advocacy to promote better access to mental health services and suicide prevention programs throughout Australia.

The organisation's membership of SPA marks a positive step forward in Australia's fight against suicide. By combining their expertise and resources, PACFA and SPA aim to empower mental health professionals, raise awareness, and ultimately save lives.

Suicide Prevention Australia serves as the national peak body for the suicide prevention sector in Australia. Their purpose is to create a strong, collective voice for suicide prevention efforts. By working together with a shared purpose, they aim to save lives and ultimately achieve their vision of a world without suicide.
